As you read in a previous blog we started calling the baby while inside of me Fletcher. Once we found out there were three babies we just kept calling them all Fletcher. That week the babies made me crave a Big Mac from McDonald's which I don't know if I had ever had before, they were obviously hungry. The following week we found out we lost one of the babies but saw heartbeats in the remaining two. One of the babies was a little smaller and had a weaker heartbeat which my sister Jill decided to name Big Mac.
So declaring the babies identity before we get to meet them, Fletcher and Big Mac. Scott and I were sad about losing baby #3 but have since grown so attached and in love with our little Fletcher and little Big Mac. We took today off because I had a 3rd ultrasound and first OB appointment which would take quite a bit of time. We were so excited because we could not wait to lay our eyes on our two precious babies. Unfortunately today we were not given the news we were hoping for. We found out that Big Mac had stopped growing probably right after our last ultrasound. It was so hard to see the sac with the tiny baby in it with out a heartbeat knowing how we saw a heartbeat 1 1/2 weeks ago. Scott and I loved Big Mac so much and it pains us to have another baby taken from us. Even though we only knew about having triplets and twins for a short time, it only took one second to fall in love with all of our babies.
Unfortunately our sadness and tears took away from the fact that Fletcher looked great. Fletcher had a heartbeat of 175 beats per minute which they ideally want 120-170 but said fast is good and he was measuring just over 8 weeks which is right where he should be. After meeting with the OB she told me that Fletcher looked good. I did notice some concern from the doc about all my other sacs and what was going to become of them. She said Fletcher implanted in the best spot he could but we don't want Big Mac's miscarriage to affect him. They want me back in 2 weeks Feb 16th for another ultrasound which of course terrifies me because the last two ultrasounds we have lost a baby.
The picture is of Fletcher today from his 8 1/2 weeks ultrasound, he is the size of a kidney bean this week.
Ami, I am so sorry to hear about Big Mac. Praise God that Fletcher is healthy and growing right on track. You're always in my and Josh's prayers and thoughts. Big hugs.
